Mario’s extensive career has afforded him the opportunity to collaborate with a diverse range of patient populations and clinical scenarios. This breadth of experience has allowed him to develop expertise in managing a spectrum of mental health conditions, including mild to severe personality disorders, mood disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and trauma. Mario is Critical Incident Stress Debriefing Certified and is actively pursuing further qualifications in Transference Focused Psychotherapy (TFP) and Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT). In addition, he has completed the Mental Health First Aid for Veterans program offered by the Mental Health Commission of Canada.
Mario specializes in operational stress injuries such as PTSD, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, moral injuries, compassion fatigue, and vicarious trauma. His therapeutic interventions are grounded in evidence-based practices, incorporating a variety of modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Mentalization-Based Therapy, among other approaches.
Recognizing the importance of cultural nuances in the therapeutic process, Mario is fluent in both English and Spanish. This linguistic proficiency enables him to deliver treatment services in either language, fostering inclusivity and enhancing the effectiveness of therapy for a wider range of clients.
With nearly four decades of clinical experience as a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist, Mario is dedicated to supporting adults, couples, and families as they navigate psychological and relational challenges. He approaches his work with empathy and professionalism, drawing on a nuanced understanding of each client’s unique circumstances. Mario creates a safe and collaborative environment in which individuals and relationships can grow and thrive. He offers evidence-informed guidance to help clients adapt to life’s challenges, strengthen their connections, and achieve meaningful improvements in emotional well-being and interpersonal functioning.
Mario is licensed to provide care in Ontario, British Columbia, and Nova Scotia. He offers secure teletherapy sessions via Zoom Healthcare as well as in-person consultations, ensuring flexible access to high-quality support regardless of a client’s location. Services are tailored to respect client preferences and privacy, and are delivered in accordance with the highest standards of clinical excellence.
Individual adult psychotherapy and consultation sessions are typically scheduled for 45 to 50 minutes. Sessions for couples are 90 to 120 minutes in length, allowing for an in-depth exploration of relationship dynamics. Family therapy sessions usually last 120 minutes, providing ample time to address complex family interactions. Extended sessions exceeding 120 minutes can be arranged when clinically indicated. Mario’s dedicated client care team is available to discuss individual needs and coordinate sessions that best support clients’ goals.
